Texas royalty estimator

Estimate a monthly royalty check from lease production. Every input is shown and editable. This is a gross estimate before severance taxes and any post-production deductions your lease allows, so your actual check will usually be lower.

Default: WTI Cushing spot, monthly average, September 2026: $97.31 (U.S. EIA). Your purchaser's price will differ; use the price on your check stub if you have it.

Default: Henry Hub spot, monthly average, September 2026: $2.95 per million Btu (U.S. EIA). EIA quotes $/MMBtu, not $/MCF; gas heat content varies, so edit this if your stub shows a different price.

Don't know it? Estimate it below as royalty rate × (your net mineral acres ÷ unit acres).

Decimal used: –
Oil: –
Gas: –
Estimated monthly royalty: –

How the estimate works

Royalty ≈ (oil volume × oil price + gas volume × gas price) × your decimal interest. Your decimal interest is normally your lease royalty rate multiplied by your share of the pooled unit (net mineral acres ÷ unit acres); the operator states it on your division order.

Production volumes for any lease are on its Extrxct page and in the RRC Production Data Query. Not tax or legal advice.
